On May 12, 2023, the government presented<\/a> the National Strategy for Eliminating the Gender Pay Gap in Ukraine until 2030, which took place with the participation of the First Lady of Ukraine, representatives of relevant ministries, and ILO in Ukraine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine committed to reducing the gender pay gap by joining the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) and the international Biarritz Partnership in 2020. The goal of this international initiative is to achieve equal rights and opportunities in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver the past seven years, the gender pay gap in Ukraine has narrowed by 7.4% and currently stands at 18.6%. This figure is still higher than in many EU countries, and our goal is to change the situation. We are focused on making the trend of reducing the gender pay gap sustainable and irreversible,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The implementation plan of the National Strategy for Eliminating the Gender Pay Gap in Ukraine until 2030, in particular, provides for: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Overcoming stereotypes and discrimination based on gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is planned to conduct a large-scale information campaign for women “Of course, you can” to convince women that they can receive greater remuneration for their work. As well as an educational campaign to raise women’s awareness of their rights and opportunities. It is also proposed to introduce gender audits and the exchange of best practices in implementing gender equality in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Improving legislation on equal pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government wants to introduce the principle of equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender in the new version of the Law on Labor. Moreover, there is a plan to conduct labor inspections based on complaints of gender-based pay discrimination. A national methodology for gender-neutral job evaluation and training for labor inspectors and employers will also be developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Creating conditions for the combination of family and professional responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, it is proposed to facilitate the establishment and operation of public and private kindergartens and improve labor legislation to ensure equal treatment of employees with family responsibilities. It is planned to introduce programs for employers to help employees balance professional and family responsibilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
