Successful Access to Employment Records to Secure Timely Pensions

Employees nearing retirement often discover inaccuracies in their employment records or lack the necessary documentation to confirm their work history for the Pension Fund of Ukraine. This process becomes particularly difficult when former employers have been reorganized or liquidated, and all records transferred to local or regional archive offices—leaving workers unsure of how to access the required documents.

Labor Initiatives’ (LI) legal clinic assists in navigating these challenges. In April 2023, following legal appeals prepared by LI lawyers, several workers from private enterprises in the Kyiv, Poltava, and Lviv regions were able to retrieve essential employment documents and submit them to the Pension Fund in time.

LI attorneys prepared formal requests to still-functioning employers or their legal successors, as well as to regional and local archive offices. As a result, the workers successfully confirmed their employment history and secured their pensions without delay.
