From June 5-7, Labor Initiatives supported a three-day training workshop in Ternopil for about 30 representatives of local union chapters of two “Leoni” wiring plants affiliated with the KVPU.

The Leoni Group, headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, is a global cable and harnessing manufacturer with two key facilities in Ukraine, located in Stryi and Kolomyia.

Over the course of the three days, union activists engaged in sessions focused on strategic planning and building a long-term vision for local union chapters; social dialogue and collective bargaining, strengthening negotiation skills with management.

Specific attention was paid to effective communication and learning how to highlight union successes and deliver clear, impactful messages to the general public. Trainers of all these sessions became members of another KVPU-affiliated union – professors from the Donetsk National University, based now in Vinnytsia, who combined their theoretical knowledge with practical experience of union work in the university.
