Transnational Company Worker Reinstated Following Illegal Dismissal Without Union Approval

A worker of a multinational corporation was illegally terminated without prior approval from the trade union, violating Ukrainian labor laws.

The Supreme Court upheld the appellate court’s ruling, which reinstated the worker. The court emphasized that dismissing a union member requires prior approval from the elected trade union body.

The case also examined the union’s refusal to approve the dismissal, noting that such refusals must be well-reasoned and backed by legal justification. After a lengthy court process, the worker was reinstated to the position.
