Labor Initiatives’ lawyers helped a worker defend her right to fair pay and cancel an unlawful leave

Lawyers from the NGO Labor Initiatives successfully helped defend the rights and interests of a worker of a private trading enterprise.

The worker turned to the legal clinic after her employer first delayed salary payments and then completely stopped paying wages. Later, the employer forced her to write a request for unpaid leave, which constitutes a violation of labor rights.

The Labor Initiatives legal team prepared a formal demand to the employer to pay the wage arrears and revoke the order for unpaid leave. They also drafted a complaint to the State Labor Service requesting an inspection. However, after receiving the worker’s letter, the employer promptly responded and fulfilled all the demands.

As a result, the worker received a full settlement, was paid around 40,000 UAH in wage arrears, the unlawful leave order was canceled, and she was reinstated at her workplace.
