Ensuring Lawful Resignation for a Retail Worker
Labor Initiatives (LI) lawyers helped defend the labor rights of a female employee working in a retail chain.
The worker informed her employer of her intention to resign, but the employer refused to process her request, citing martial law as the reason. In addition, the employee had not received her wages for two consecutive months.
LI lawyers provided legal consultations on the proper resignation procedure under Ukrainian law and prepared a formal appeal to the employer.
As a result, all of the employee’s demands were met: she was lawfully dismissed by mutual agreement under Paragraph 1, Article 36 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, received compensation for unused vacation days, and was paid the outstanding wage arrears.
