Adapting to New Realities – War Trauma and Loss Experience
In October, the Labor Initiatives hub in Kyiv continued the series of joint events facilitated by representatives of the charity organization Vesta. Vesta has been functioning since 2015 to help veterans and their family members with various issues, particularly legal and psychological aid, support for injured veterans, and advocacy of veteran-friendly policies and laws.

The lecture on October 10 was dedicated to the impact of war on mental health. It included psychological instruments for coping with stress and anxiety caused by war trauma, and the second one (on October 24) – dealing with loss and mourning during the war. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians have experienced the pain of loss. Some have lost their beloved, some their relatives, and some their friends. Still, many people remain socially active, creating support communities and helping the army. Thus, knowing ethical communication with those who lost somebody is vital not to harm a person more.
