On September 12, Inna Kudinska, a lawyer with Solidarity Center and Labor Initiatives, and George Sandul, Labor Initiatives legal director, held an online session on collective bargaining legislation and bargaining lifehacks for the elected leaders of the Public Servants Union in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Zaporizhzhia region is one of the most war-affected areas in Ukraine, suffering daily from missile strikes and hosting thousands of internally displaced persons.

While still providing humanitarian aid, Zaporizhzhia trade unions work to protect the labor rights of their members, and collective bargaining is a highly demanded instrument for the daily public servants’ union work there.

Moreover, due to SC/LI facilitation, Zaporizhzhia union leaders listened to an educational session on inclusivity and engagement with people with disabilities (PWDs) from NGO Dostupno.UA. Incorporating such training is essential for public servants’ union leaders, as many of them are local self-governance officers providing public services to veterans and people with disabilities.
