LUFTHANSA PILOTS’ STRIKE EXTENDED

German air carrier Lufthansa pilots have decided to extend their strike for one more day, the third one.

This was announced by the trade union representing the pilots’ rights on Wednesday. As it was planned previously, the strike should have lasted till Thursday.

The trade union emphasizes on the fact that the Friday strike on November 25 will extend to short-haul flights only.

On Wednesday, Lufthansa cancelled more than 800 flights including almost 50 flights on international routes. The strike has also affected Ukrainian passengers who were unable to fly to Munich and Frankfurt on Wednesday.

Airline pilots demand the salary increase by 22% for 5 years since 2012. Lufthansa CEO has proposed gradual increase by 2.5%

The conflict between the trade unions and the management of the air carrier started in April 2014.
