George Sandul discusses wage arrears and labour rights in Tetiana Goncharova’s podcast

George Sandul, Legal Director of the NGO Labour Initiatives, appeared as a guest on a podcast hosted by Ukrainian journalist Tetiana Goncharova to discuss key labour rights challenges in Ukraine.

During the conversation, the speakers addressed the large-scale problem of wage arrears in Ukraine, as well as widespread violations of labour rights and the legal mechanisms available for workers to defend them.

George Sandul shared examples of cases in which workers had not received wages for several years and described successful efforts to recover unpaid wages at major companies. The discussion also covered informal employment and the balance between employers and workers in labour relations.

Special attention was also given to the challenges faced by war veterans and internally displaced persons who are seeking stable employment and integration into the labour market.
