Human Capital in Ukraine: Multi-Faceted Discussion

On October 2, LI’s legal director, George Sandul, spoke during the round table discussion and interim presentation of the joint survey “Human Capital: Challenges and Opportunities” by IREX and American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. 

SC and LI were invited to highlight the worker-centered vision of workforce challenges in Ukraine and overview the role of unions in addressing these challenges.

“Labor unions are the democratic representatives of the workers on the job who know the problems and can provide feedback and workers` requests and concerns. Among them are decent wages and clear, enforceable employment rules. Upskilling and training are also being raised as necessities by workers, and unions have already played a vital role in it, especially in the construction sector”, George pointed out.
