A new publication has been released in the international journal ILAW – The Global Labour Rights Reporter. The article “Law in the Service of Workers: Building Social Movement Unionism in Ukraine” by experts from Labor Initiatives and the Solidarity Center – Inna Kudinska, Tristan Masat, and George Sandul – shares the experience of creating and developing Ukraine’s first national free legal aid center for workers and trade unions.

The piece highlights an approach in which “Labor Initiatives” legal support functions as a service to strengthen the trade union movement and build communities of solidarity. In the context of war, economic instability, and ongoing pressure on labor rights, this model helps workers not only defend their rights, but also organize and grow their collective power.

The article presents practical case studies – from domestic workers and platform couriers to unions in multinational companies – illustrating how legal expertise, media work, and solidarity combine to support worker organizing even in the most challenging times.
