On May 2, 2024, George Sandul, LI legal director, spoke online to participants of the round table “Legal Aspects of Mediation Institualization in Labor Sphere” organized by the Donetsk National University located in Vinnytsia and the Vinnytsia Regional Office of the National Mediation and Reconciliation Service (NSPP). The event was supported by the Solidarity Center in Ukraine.

“While unions are obviously deprived of some essential rights during wartime (like strikes), grievances on various issues such as wage arrears, OSH violations, illegal dismissals, and others still remain. Developing efficient mediation instruments is essential for protecting labor and union rights as well as the functioning of the economy in general. Considering the future reconstruction process, we will inevitably face collective labor disputes, and at the present moment, we need to draw a blueprint of the instruments that will benefit workers and secure economic fairness in Ukraine,” George said.
