Outreach to Union Youth
On November 15-16, 2023, under the support of the Solidarity Center, the Trade Union of Education and Science Workers of Ukraine (Federation of Trade Unions (FPU) affiliate) held a two-day forum, “Youth for Ukraine and Ukraine for Youth.”

On the eve of International Students` Day, this forum served as a platform for unions, businesses, ministries, international partners and other stakeholders to share the vision of post-war reconstruction, highlighting the significance of youth inclusion in decision-making processes.
Tristan Masat, SC Country Program Director in Ukraine, joined the event with welcoming words:

“Especially in post-Maidan times and amid the war, workers deserve democracy, a fair economy, and decent wages. These things must exist for Ukrainian youth to want to live here, to return to Ukraine, to build their lives here. Unions, via legislative and social dialogue instruments, have unique opportunities to demand and achieve fair and equitable economic development.”
On the second day of the forum, LI attorneys George Sandul and Inna Kudinska had the privilege to speak before over 50 representatives of students` trade unions across Ukraine who gathered in Kyiv.

George and Inna presented significant details to pay attention to during the first job search. In particular, the difference between civil and labor contracts, probation duration and payment for it, wartime regulations affecting young workers. Also, LI lawyers, in an interactive way with the audience, demonstrated patterns of behavior during job interviews.
