In new episodes of GoncharovaPodcast recorded together with Ukrainian journalist Tetiana Goncharova, LI Legal Director George Sandul discussed key labour rights issues affecting workers in Ukraine.

One of the episodes focused on hiring and dismissal procedures. George Sandul explained the main stages of employment and emphasized the importance of properly documenting labour relations in order to prevent informal employment and reduce risks for workers.

He also addressed common problems workers face during resignation and termination processes, including situations where employers exploit legal uncertainty or workers’ lack of awareness about their rights.

Throughout the discussion, George provided practical recommendations aimed at helping workers better understand employment procedures and protect themselves from labour rights violations.

Another episode explored democratic workplace governance and alternatives to traditional business structures. George Sandul introduced listeners to international examples of self-managing companies that use governance models such as sociocracy and holacracy.

According to George, these approaches can increase worker participation in decision-making, improve workplace transparency, and strengthen labour protections.

Special attention was also given to workers’ cooperatives as an alternative economic model. George explained that cooperatives are capable of competing successfully with traditional businesses while ensuring fairer profit distribution, equal participation, and more democratic management processes for workers.
