Rights of Informally Employed Workers Protected
A construction team leader, representing a group of eight workers under his supervision, applied to the LI legal clinic. They had all been working unofficially and had not been paid for the previous two months. The workers decided to resign and demand the wages owed to them. However, their verbal requests to their employer went unanswered, prompting them to pursue legal action aid.
Labor Initiatives lawyers helped prepare an official request to the employer demanding full payment of the outstanding wages.
With the support of lawyers, the team leader submitted complaints to the State Labor Service and the State Tax Service, urging them to initiate an investigation.
As a result, the workers were paid their wage arrears for two months, totaling approximately 370,000 UAH.
Furthermore, the State Labor Service initiated an inspection to verify the reported facts of informal employment.
