On March 26, LI lawyers Inna Kudinska and George Sandul were invited to deliver a two-hour online workshop on the art of collective bargaining in the framework of an event organized by the Kyiv regional FPU, with the support of the Swedish Union to Union. The session brought together more than 20 local union leaders and shop stewards from the Kyiv regional FPU, equipping them with the legal insight and strategic expertise needed to secure stronger protections and tangible benefits for their members.

Throughout the workshop, Inna and George provided an overview of the current regulatory framework and analyzed Law No. 2937, which will enter into force six months after the end of martial law. They translated complex legal provisions into practical, easy-to-understand guidance, ensuring participants could confidently apply this knowledge in real-world negotiations.

Moving beyond theory, the trainers emphasized strategies for engaging with employers effectively. They highlighted the importance of preparation, communication, and adaptability, as well as the critical role of unity and coordinated teamwork in achieving successful bargaining outcomes.

The workshop concluded with a review of collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provisions – best practices and model clauses that have proven effective in strengthening worker protections and could be adapted and replicated across unions.
