Adapting to New Realities – Engagement with War Veterans

On September 26, the Labor Initiatives hub in Kyiv hosted a public lecture facilitated by representatives of the charity organization Vesta. Vesta has been functioning since 2015 to help veterans and their family members with various issues, particularly legal and psychological aid, support for injured veterans, and advocacy of veteran-friendly policies and laws.

On September 12, Inna Kudinska, a lawyer with Solidarity Center and Labor Initiatives, and George Sandul, Labor Initiatives legal director, held an online session on collective bargaining legislation and bargaining lifehacks for the elected leaders of the Public Servants Union in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Union Youth Camp “The Lake of Knowledge”

On 2-5 September, Solidarity Center and Labor Initiatives supported the union camp for 128 young activists of the Nuclear Power Plants Workers Union (Atomprofspilka). The camp was conducted in Varash, the satellite town of the Rivne nuclear power plant.

On August 9-10, Solidarity Center and Labor Initiatives supported a two-day youth camp in the city of Irpin for 25 union leaders from the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FPU) from the Kyiv region.

On August 6, Inna Kudinska, a lawyer with Labor Initiatives and Solidarity Center, and George Sandul, Labor Initiatives legal director, took part as trainers in the regional meeting of the National Public Servants Union in Korosten (Zhytomyr region).

Addressing Environmental Rights

On July 25, George Sandul, Labor Initiatives legal director, co-chaired the regular meeting of the Social and Economic Expert Council under the Parliamentary Commissioner on Human Rights (Ombudsman of Ukraine). The meeting aimed to address issues of environmental security in Ukraine and the role of civil society in monitoring and securing human rights.

Law on Monitoring Anti-Bullying Regulations: First Reading

On June 19, the Parliament of Ukraine adopted in the first reading draft law №11044 about amending the martial law regulations over monitoring of anti-bullying labor provisions by the labor inspectorate.
